An Evening with Lucie Arnaz
May 2nd & 3rd, 2009
The Ritz-Carlton Lodge, Reynolds Plantation

It isn’t often that one show not only has connection to, but brings to life so much
that has been, is and will be in the genres of comedy, television, theater, stage,
film and music. This occurred not only in one show, but with one performer that is
the mix of and lovingly celebrates the uniqueness of both the American and Cuban
salt and pepper which seasoned her life.
Supported by an incredible trio of piano, bass, and percussion, Lucie guided us on
a creative, emotionally balanced and beautifully orchestrated musical journey that
touched everyone deeply and entertained all.
With the perfect timing and wit of her “queen of comedy” mother, Lucille Ball, and
the sensuality and spice of her Latin musician father, Desi Arnaz, Lucie completed
the needed ingredients with her own sizzle, voice, and vulnerability that created an
experience beyond what anyone might have expected.
Indeed, her opening number “Lulu’s Back in Town” was an appropriate declaration of
all that would follow. She helped us understand her place in the family as she
sang “Lucie with an “I, E”, followed by a long list of well loved ballads, melodies from
childhood, stage, and screen, all delivered with her own flair and interpretation.
The audience was invited into Lucie’s life as a daughter, singer, actress, wife and
mother in a way that few performers dare. It is clear, as one of her later inclusions
stated, she “Still believes in love.” And certainly she still believes in song, in the
power of music to tell the story of life and love, and even to help you get to it,
through it, explain it and celebrate it. Lulu not only is back, she is back with a
funny, spicy, current, real, singing vengeance. OPAS is elated to have helped Lucie
linger a while longer in the Lake Oconee region.
