As we embark on our 17th season, OPAS is proud to continue our tradition of bringing unparalleled talent to the Lake Community. The 2024-2025 season promises to be a celebration of artistic excellence, starting with a spectacular evening where Broadway meets Greensboro. "Broadway Sings for OPAS" will feature the incredible talents of legendary orchestrator and conductor Larry Blank, along with the celebrated vocalists Josh Young, Matt Ford, and Emily Padgett.
Larry Blank is one of the most respected and sought-after orchestrators and conductors in the entertainment industry. With a career spanning over four decades, Larry has worked on numerous Broadway shows, films, and television specials. He has received multiple Tony and Drama Desk Award nominations for his exceptional work. Larry's expertise and passion for music bring a unique energy and precision to every performance, making him a true maestro in the world of orchestration and conducting.
Josh Young, a celebrated Broadway performer known for his powerful voice and compelling stage presence, earned a Tony Award nomination for his role as Judas in the revival of "Jesus Christ Superstar." Josh has also captivated audiences with his performances in shows like "Les Misérables" and "Evita." He has played Marius more than any other actor. His ability to bring depth and emotion to his characters makes him a standout performer in the world of musical theatre.
Matt Ford, a renowned vocalist and performer with a career that has taken him across the globe, is best known for his appearances on BBC's "Friday Night is Music Night." Matt has also performed with leading orchestras and big bands, including the BBC Concert Orchestra and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Matt was named UK’s best vocalist in 2006. His versatility and charm have earned him a place among the top performers in contemporary music.
Emily Padgett, a seasoned Broadway actress with an impressive list of credits to her name, has starred in six Broadway shows, including "Rock of Ages," "Side Show," and "Legally Blonde." Emily was hand selected by Eddi Brikell and American comic legend Steve Martin to star in their 2016 Broadway hit “Bright Star”. Emily's dynamic performances and vocal prowess have made her a beloved figure in the theatre community. Her ability to connect with audiences and bring characters to life is truly remarkable.

We are also excited to launch our new series, OPAS Unplugged, which will debut with a performance by the Ehnes Quartet. Join us on Sunday afternoon, October 6, 2024, and unplug for 60 minutes of pure musical bliss.
The Ehnes Quartet is hailed as an important new force in chamber music, featuring a "dream-team line-up" of internationally renowned string musicians: violinists James Ehnes and Amy Schwartz Moretti, violist Che-Yen Chen, and cellist Edward Arron. Their collective talent and synergy have captivated audiences worldwide, earning them a reputation for delivering unforgettable performances.
James Ehnes, a celebrated violinist, is known for his virtuosity and emotional depth. Amy Schwartz Moretti, also a distinguished violinist, brings her exceptional technique and artistry to the quartet. Che-Yen Chen, a violist of great acclaim, adds his rich and expressive sound to the ensemble, while Edward Arron, an esteemed cellist, grounds the quartet with his profound musicality.
